韓国語の先生

もう１５年以上前の話です、ぼくは社内公募で出向して１台１０００万円以上する検査機販売の営業になりました。しかも主な担当市場は韓国、もちろんそれまでは１回も訪れたことがない「近くて遠い国」でした。そんな私に検査機のいろはは当然のこと、韓国のいろはについても教えてくれたのが立石大先輩です。今回ご子息の結婚式をここ石垣島で執り行うこととなり、ご一同様で来島です。
I used to be an office worker, and 15years ago by in-house staff recruitment system I moved in a subsidiary that manufactured and sold inspection machines from a brewery company. My responsibility was to sell the inspection machines, whose price was over US$100,000-, mainly in Korean market. Before that not only I didn't know about such complicated machines very well, but never had been Korea. At that moment Tateishi-San taught me "ABC" about the inspection machines and Korean culture. Both of us already left the company, I've had almost no chance to meet my old teacher until the day before yesterday.











今回、式を挙げられたご長男夫婦は幸運なことにダイバーということなので昼間３ダイブをご一緒したあと、皆さんでお食事という流れになりました。たまみさんとまさしさん末永くお幸せに！！
But a son of Tateishi-San planed his wedding party in our Ishigaki island, and Tateishi family visited here. It's a really happy surprise!! Also the bridal couple are both certified divers, so I enjoyed 3 dives with them daytime after that big dinner with all Tateishi family, "Cheers!!".

今ではぼくのハングルマル（韓国語）もだいぶ錆付いてしまいましたが、担当当時は居酒屋などでの注文はお手のもの？？でした。その礎を築くのにお世話になったのが立石さんです。
My speaking and hearing skills in Korean already lusted, but over 10 years ago at my peak some Korean words about ordering beer or foods in restaurant used to come out fluently from my mouth. Tateishi-San used to teach me many Korean words, and my vocabulary was built up step by step.

今でもよ～く覚えてます。金浦空港の喫茶店で
For instance, at a coffee shop at Gimpo airport in Seoul,

「”牛乳”くださいって韓国語で何て言うんですか？立石さん。」
"Tateishi-San, teach me how to say "Milk" in Korean?" I asked Tateishi-San.

「大平～、牛乳は韓国語で”モユ”、だから”モユ、チュセヨ～。」
"Milk is "Moyu", so you can ask them, Give me "Moyu", please." Tateishi-San replied to me.

「ありがとうございます、立石さん。」
"Thank you, Tateishi-San."

ぼくは、店員の女性に、
And I asked a lady,

「アガシ（お嬢さん）、”モユ”チュセヨ～。」
"Excuse me, give me "moyu" (milk in Korean???)"

しかし、アガシ（店員）の反応がイマイチ、それは見て爆笑している立石さん。
But the lady's response looked little weird, and Tateishi-San had big laugh..........

「大平～、本当は牛乳は”ウユ”、”モユ”は母乳、おっぱいの意味なんだ。」
"Hey, "Milk" is NOT "moyu" in Korean. It's "uyu", "moyu" means "Breast milk" Tateishi-San told me with big laugh......

「えっ～マジ、、、、、ぼく、あの店員に”すみません～おっぱいください”って大きな声で言ってしまったんですね～～。」
"Come on～～so I said to the lady, "Give me you breast milk" in loud voice" I really felt big shame.........

当然、１５年経った今までもぼくは”ウユ”と”モユ”ふたつの韓国語はよ～く覚えています。
Of course I still remember 2 Korean words, "Milk" and "Breast Milk" clearly. Thank you, Tateishi-San.
